Join us for an enjoyable evening of musical storytelling. The concert begins with Sibelius' tone poem En Saga, of which the composer remarked, "in no other work have I revealed myself so completely." Guest pianist Andrew von Oeyen, praised by the Chicago Sun Times for his "blend of crystalline fire and heartfelt poetry," then joins the Orchestra for Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto No. 1. The evening concludes with Rimsky-Korsakov's captivating symphonic suite Scheherazade, based on the classic The Thousand and One Nights.
The Orchestra Association will present Classical Conversations, an informative pre-concert talk on Thursday, March 12, at 10:30 a.m. in Holley Hall of the Beatrice Friedman Symphony Center. Admission is $8 and tickets may be purchased at the door.
