Michael Adcock, piano
Adcock holds a bachelor's degree in music from the Oberlin College-Conservatory, where he graduated Pi Kappa Lambda. He earned his master's degree, artist's diploma and doctorate from the Peabody Conservatory. A former student of Leon Fleisher and Ellen Mack, Adcock was the 1998 recipient of the Lili Boulanger Memorial Award. He also won prizes from the Kosciuszko and Washington International Competitions. Adcock made his Carnegie Hall recital debut in 1998. He has previously served as: a faculty member of theory and chamber music at the Peabody Conservatory, piano faculty member at the Washington Conservatory and was an artist-in-residence at the Aspen Institute.
Ya-Fei Chuang, piano
Chuang has made appearances at: the European Music Festival in Stuttgart; the Schleswig-Holstein Festival; the Brahms-Tage; the Bach Festival in Leipzig, Germany; the Shannon Festival in Ireland; the Oulu in Finland; Ravinia; and the Oregon Bach Festival. She has appeared at Fromm Foundation concerts at Harvard and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in Cambridge, Mass., and performed in venues including the Cologne and Berlin Philharmonien, Schauspielhaus Berlin and the Gewandhaus Leipzig. Chuang has been a duo partner to Kim Kashkashian and Robert Levin.
Robert Cloutier, piano technician
A nationally recognized artist and piano technician specializing in the concert preparation of Steinway pianos, Cloutier has spent the past 30 years traveling throughout the United States servicing performance venues, colleges and recording studios. He is currently a faculty member at the University of Colorado at Boulder's College of Music.
Joy Cline Phinney, piano
With a doctorate in piano performance and ensemble arts from the Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University, Phinney received her bachelor's and master's degrees from The Juilliard School of Music. She made her Carnegie Recital Hall debut in 1990 and has remained an active chamber musician and collaborative artist. Phinney has held positions such as: artist-in-residence for the Aspen Institute for Humanistic Studies in Maryland and piano faculty member at the Musicorda String Festival at Mt. Holyoke College in Massachusetts. In addition, she has made guest appearances in: the New York Philharmonic Chamber Music Series at Merkin Hall; chamber music concerts with members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra; in the Whim Historic House and "Arts Alive" concert series in the U.S. Virgin Islands; the Brandeis Faculty Artist series with cellist Joshua Gordon; and duo concerts. She has done recordings with cellist Emmanuel Feldman.
Jean Schneider, piano
This master-class coordinator has a doctorate in music from State University of New York at Stony Brook. She earned her bachelor's and master's degrees at the University of Southern California. Schneider is a Fulbright scholar to Mozarteum Salzburg. Her teachers included: John Perry, Robert Levin, Karl-Heinz Kämmerling and Gilbert Kalish. Schneider has been a guest artist for the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music and continually performs as chamber musician and soloist.
Nadia Shpachenko, piano
Shpachenko is a piano faculty member California State University at Pomona. She has made festival appearances including the: International Holland Music Sessions, Aspen, Cliburn, Machester and Orford. Shpachenko earned her doctorate from the University of Southern California and studied under principal teachers: John Perry, Victor Rosenbaum and Victor Derevianko. She has been featured as a guest lecturer and artist-in-residence at Pomona College, the California Institute of the Arts, and the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. She travels to Mexico, Europe and North America (including stops at Carnegie Hall and Concertgebouw) to make solo and chamber-music ensemble performances. Shpachenko's premieres of contemporary composers include Leon Kirchner, Iannis Xenakis, Elliott Carter and Yury Ishchenko.
Jonathan Spivey, piano
Spivey holds a doctorate in piano performance from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He has made recent concert appearances at Carnegie Hall and in Seoul, Korea. Spivey is the principal pianist for the Sarasota Orchestra and also is a member of the Sarasota Piano Quartet.
